To all artists
You're the first ones to be addressed by Repeace for many reasons. Like us, you're sensitive, compassionate people by nature. Your sensibilities lie in the capacity to see beauty and harmony. You have an awareness of the suffering and the imbalances that others are confronted with in these turbulent times. Thus, you have the power to mobilize, capture the moment, and make people think in ways that nobody else can. You may hold the key to world peace. Your creativity and humor beats any bomb, any cash, any arrogance coming from our failed institutions. YOU can ignite the Repeace movement and draw people into the virtual protest by sharing your gift of creativity. What will be the ways that you can create a critical mass? You can start by downloading the Repeace logo and using it (or the word) to create art. You can also stencil the symbol around you and share it.
The logo stands for accountability, responsibility, and solidarity as well as current humanity's struggle for justice. E-mail us your Repeace-inspired art. In exchange for your contributions, we will share your work and let people rate it. If we use your art on clothing, publications or art books, part of the proceeds from the sales will go to you. To young people and students
A recent article in AlterNet said:
Traditionally, young people have energized democratic movements. So it is a major coup for the ruling elite to have createdsocietal institutions that have subdued young Americans and broken their spirit of resistance to domination. Young Americans—even more so than older Americans—appear to have acquiesced to the idea that the corporatocracy can completely screw them and that they are helpless to do anything about it.
The article lists 8 reasons why young Americans don't fight back, and argues that the ruling elite has created social institutions that have subdued you, broken your spirit of resistance and crushed your capacity to fight back.
They were wrong.
We believe that you can play a major role in having the last say. We ask you to unite, and spread the word about Repeace. Get all of your friends to share Repeace and take the 3 pledges (You can now cast your vote in the worldwide support pledge). You have the power to bring this movement to a critical mass. There are an estimated 65 million Americans between the ages of 18 to 30. We look forward to hearing from you!
To all social activists
You all realize peace. You are very special people. Your compassion and empathy are natural human gifts that enable you to feel the pain of virtually all life forms on the planet, such as political prisoners, disenfranchised voters, young people who can't afford a decent education, all of the people who don’t have access to affordable healthcare, abused animals and children, and the environment. We share your pain and despair in these tumultuous times. We have all signed petitions and contacted our elected officials. We have protested and cried. Although we have often taken breaks from the pain, we jumped right back into action because we just can't stop caring. We have donated money even when we didn’t have much. Now it's time to unite in the biggest struggle. Now it's our time to reclaim hope by demanding accountability from our politics in order to achieve the peace that we want and so desperately need.
When we save someone, we save the world. When we reassure and comfort someone in pain, we create peace for them and for us. This is the essence of Repeace. You are all Repeacers...You realize peace all the time. Take this idea to heart and join the movement. We have to cleanse our institutions of the cancers of greed and corruption and rally behind companies and politicians that will live by new standards and new rules. Would you like to make those rules? Take the 3 pledges and share them far and wide. Your voice will be heard this time.
TO AMERICANS SUFFERING FROM THE FAILURE OF THEIR INSTITUTIONS
The culprits of the economic crisis continue to get away with murder while millions of you are losing your jobs and homes, have fallen into poverty or can't afford a decent education. There is no need to explain why you’re demoralized. You peacefully organize, protest, blog, and react, only to be met with excessive force by law enforcement. You’re fed up with the countless ways that your institutions ceaselessly reward failure. For instance, without congressional oversight, the Federal Reserve created $7770 billion dollars (7.77 Trillion) out of thin air to rescue the embattled financial system. To put this in perspective, the State of California has a $10 billion deficit. 777 States of California could have been bailed out with all that money... Where did that money go? Check out this video, and you'll get an idea.
You’re indescribably sick of it all. To add insult to injury, your future is dependent upon institutions that not only have let you down, but now want to put a heavier burden on you. We believe that we need to look for ideas and join movements that can create a new kind of change so you can regain the voice that was stolen from you. Joining the Repeace movement and taking the 3 pledges will help you regain your voice. Share Repeace and get all of your friends to pledge with you. Once you do, you’ll find that you have gotten your voice back.
I like to believe that people in the long run are going to do more to promote peace than our governments. Indeed, I think that people want peace so much that, one of these days, governments had better get out of the way and let them have it.
